Up-Grading the system

Here is that sysem i have to upgrade

System specification
Intel Pentium D 'Dual Core X2' CPU (5.3 Ghz)
VIA Chipset 1066 Mhz Motherboard - slots available: AGP8x (1), PCI (3), RAM (2); ports available: LAN (1), USB (6)
512 MB RAM
80 GB HDD (SATA300)
18X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer & Dual Format
onboard UniChrome PRO 3D Graphics with 64 MB shared memory
mouse and keyboard
15" flat screen
cheap inkjet printer

What i would do is upgrade the Monitor and the graphics card , i would upgrade the Monitor because a 15" just isnt big enough to produce images of high quality and the resolution probably wouldnt be that great with it being ony 15" i would upgrade it to a 24" HD monitor because then you would definatly know that you can have a high resilution and with it being HD you will have alot better colour depth and this would depend on the graphics card and this is why i would up grade it because 64Mb is definatly not big enough to create HD graphics and its onbored so its taking power from the RAM so you wont be getting full potential out of your computer , i would upgrade it to a Radeon HD 3870X2 this is a 1gb HD graphics card and this with the monitor will give you more than enough potential to create a very good image.

Digital Graphics Software

There are meny diferant types of digital graphics software programmes ranging from paint to photoshop , they are either and , or vector programmes or bitmap programmes. A vector programme is a programme such as microsoft visio , A bitmap programme is a programme such as paint.

A Vector image is a image of high quaility , when a vector image is magnified none of the quality of the image is lost , this is becuase they use mathmatical equasions like points lines and curves or polygons to maintain the quality.

A Bitmap image is a image off somthing like paint and this is also known as raster graphics and this only works of a grid of rectangular pixels , this means that a bitmap is low quality becuase it can only support 24 colours and if you magnified a bitmap image it picture would become all pixilated.

Below is a picture showing the diferance between vector graphics and bitmap (raster) graphics and as you can see the bitmap image is very pixilated and blury , the Vector image has lost none of its quality.

lol gfx

Mouse
The mouse is a very important tool when editing graphics , this is because you navigate your self around the monitor and change the screen resalution.

Monitor
The monitor is the device that you veiw everything on , with the monitor you can change the resolution and the colour depth 16x16 or 32 x 32

Graphics tablet
A graphics tablet is a device in witch you can draw an image using a pen and then it gets displayed on the computer and then you can edit it.

Digital camera
A digital camera alows you to take multipul pictures and store them all on the the memory card, another thing about a digital camera is that you can change the pixels on the camera so you can produce a higher quality picture.

Scanner
This is used to copy an image on to the computer or anything on paper , the disadvantages of this is that it reduces the quality of images.

Flash cards
A flash card is good because it stores images of items like digital cameras.

USB Storage devices
these are usefull because if you have lots of images and your flash drive is full then you can copy them over.

Hard Drive
The harddrive is the memory of the computer and it can effect the performance of your computer because if the harddrive runs out of space then it can lag your computer out becuase it will have less time to think.

Processor
The processor is a device whitch deturmins the speed it whitch your computer processes infomation , if you CPU is 1.4ghz this means that your computer can only process 1.4ghz of infomation a second so if you have a bigger CPU the more infomation you can process in a second.

RAM
The more RAM you have in your computer , the faster it will load and run programmes.

Graphics card
The graphics card in a computer helps along with the graphical quality in your computer the higher MB gfx card you get the better quality you can work in.
